Four more tornadoes confirmed in Lake County from 2nd round of storms

For the second time in five days, Northwest Indiana was hit by tornadoes.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tornado warning at approximately 5:29 p.m. March 19. The NWS reported a total of four tornadoes hit communities in northern Lake County. The largest tornado from Wednesday’s storms was an EF-1 that hit Gary. Two more tornadoes, both classified as EF-0, also hit Gary. The fourth tornado, an EF-0, was confirmed in Highland.

The NWS reported an additional four tornadoes in the Chicago Southland, the largest of which was an EF-1 confirmed in Steger, Illinois. Additionally, they confirmed three other EF-0 tornadoes in the Illinois communities of Frankfort, Joliet and Lynwood.
